YETTEL SERBIA AMONG THE 38 MOBILE OPERATORS WHO HAVE SIGNED THE AGREEMENT ON INTERNET PRICE REDUCTION IN ROAMING
Yettel Serbia among the 38 mobile operators who have signed the Agreement on internet price reduction in roaming
Reduction of roaming prices for mobile internet between the EU and the Western Balkan region endorsed by the European Union
Belgrade, May 3 - Following meetings and consultations between representatives of the European Commission (EC), the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), and mobile operators from the European Union and the Western Balkans, an agreement was reached to reduce the cost of mobile internet services in roaming, starting from October 1, 2023. What this means is that the citizens of the region will be able to use tariff add-ons or special tariff packages which will make mobile internet in roaming more accessible, with prices significantly lower than those in regular tariff packages. The price reduction will be introduced gradually, over several stages, ending in 2028, with the goal of creating even more affordable tariffs for customers, and the announced price reduction in October being the first phase. Yettel Serbia is among the 38 mobile operators who have signed the agreement and is an active participant in the process.
Prior to the official introduction of the agreed-upon price caps, Yettel launched new roaming add-ons for EU countries on April 5, which are more affordable than the reductions agreed upon through the initiative, with the idea of letting customers enjoy the benefits of lower roaming prices before the Easter and Labour Day holidays. All information about the Yettel roaming offer can be found here: Roaming add-ons (yettel.rs).
This initiative by the EU, RCC, and mobile operators will enable special mobile internet roaming tariffs during EU travels to become the market standard in the Western Balkans. At the last year's EU-Western Balkans Summit held in December in Tirana, Yettel, as one of the founders, joined the Roaming Declaration, which aims to provide more affordable prices for mobile internet in roaming, as part of a broader ambition of connecting and facilitating the mobility of our region with the European Union.
Mobile operators in the Western Balkans made the most significant contribution to creating a unique economic zone of our region by completely eliminating roaming charges for all traffic types in the area of the six Western Balkan economies from July 1, 2021.
