Energy efficiency and CO2 reduction
In order to increase energy efficiency, Yettel is focused on reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions (and other greenhouse gases), which we achieve in practical terms through the following initiatives.
Green offices
Through the "Green Office" initiative, we want to establish "green thinking", i.e. the principles of rational use of energy and other resources in all our facilities, in all phases of construction and operation, from design and construction, to adaptation and reconstruction of facilities.
Our goal is to significantly reduce the percentage of carbon dioxide emissions, as a by-product of used electricity and heat, by applying measures such as:
- proper design,
- use of modern materials with low coefficient of thermal conductivity,
- maximum adaptation of equipment and installations to user requirements,
- installation of equipment with a high energy efficiency rating (class A),
- regular maintenance of equipment and space.
An integral part of this initiative is to change the habits of Yettel employees, as we are aware that we can significantly contribute to reducing consumption. We do small things that contribute to saving energy and resources, such as double-sided printing, turning off unnecessary lights, closing windows and doors, setting the thermostat to a rational temperature, etc.
Green energy
To reduce electricity consumption and carbon dioxide emissions, one of the criteria in the process of purchasing equipment is the energy efficiency of the device.
In Yettel stores, the use of electricity obtained from renewable energy sources - hydroelectric power plant "Djerdap 1", reduces the consumption of electricity obtained by burning solid fuels, which reduces carbon dioxide emissions.
Every year, we participate in the action "Earth Hour", by turning off the lights in the HQ in Belgrade, as well as in Yettel stores throughout Serbia, including illuminated advertisements, at 8:30 p.m. In addition, Yettel invites its employees to do the same in their homes.
By giving discounts on e-bills, we motivate our users to directly participate in reducing the consumption of paper and printing materials, thus contributing to the preservation of forests and biodiversity. Also, in Yettel stores, citizens can hand over their old phones for recycling.
Green miles
By using official vehicles with a start-stop system as well as the most modern, commercially available engines that guarantee low emissions, Yettel reduces carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere.
By using the most modern telecommunication tools for cooperation and exchange of information via mobile telephony and the Internet, we reduce the number of business trips.
To raise employee awareness of the importance of environmental impact, Yettel has provided bicycles for transportation from work to home in Belgrade and regional centres in Nis and Novi Sad.
