Nearly half a million recycled devices at Yettel
A total of 11kg of gold, 7,3t of copper, 160 kg of silver and 6kg of palladium collected
Belgrade, May 10 - Since the Yettel recycling program began two years ago, customers have brought in, disposed of, and recycled nearly half a million devices together with Yettel. By doing so, a total of 11kg of gold, 7,3t of copper, 160 kg of silver and 6kg of palladium has been collected and reused. The program has now been expanded, so customers can recycle literally every type of device and equipment that they buy in Yettel shops.
The topic of environmental protection is gaining more and more importance in Serbia, while the number of people who want to get involved and contribute is growing. Ever since we provided them with the option to recycle devices in our shops, the response has exceeded all our expectations. The half a million figure is a phenomenal achievement, but we don’t plan on stopping there, because our goal is to reach one million devices by 2025, said Saša Filipović, Chief Commercial Officer at Yettel.
Yettel will reward with the electric scooter the person who brings in the 500-thousandth device for recycling, as well as those who have recycled the most so far. Some customers have brought dozens of devices, even hundreds, for recycling, It shows us that they want to participate in the process, but they need a concrete solution, adds Filipović.
For everyone who wants to recycle right now, we have prepared a discount of up to 10 thousand dinars for recycling an old phone, tablet, laptop, smartwatch, MiFi or router, charger, headphones or Bluetooth speaker, which can be used to purchase a new phone or additional equipment. Customers can transfer the discount to a family member or friend, even if they are not our customers, and additionally, there are 17 phone models available, with a monthly installment of 99 dinars.
The Yettel network is 100 percent green, which means that the electricity it uses to power base stations comes solely from renewable energy sources. In addition to recycling, Yettel has enabled customers to activate the Eco bonus service within their packages, after which Yettel, in cooperation with an authorized waste management operator, will send the average amount of plastic and paper produced by a person in Serbia to be recycled.
